Deep in the throes of a mental breakdown,
he decided instead he'd be a clown.
So he studied humor and jokes
and satirically made some pokes
at the vulnerability of people
whose proud self-illusions
insulted reality with confusions.
Then he tried to go on the stage
of nightclubs and was all the rage.
He forged ahead a good career.
As a popular celebrity he won the public cheer.
This is a good-luck story
without a moral, to the hero's glory.
It's a heart-warmer, at least for me.
